THREADS Collaborative for Natural Fiber Futures The Michigan THREADS Collaborative will address the environmental and social harms of society’s dependence on synthetic fiber by developing regionally sourced natural fiber solutions for sustainable textiles, composites and building materials in ways that support local supply chains, uplift material cultures and connect people with the places and systems that sustain them.

09/22/2025 Our Group team up with researchers from U-M Mechanical Engineering (ME), Robotics, and Chemistry has been selected for the 2025 Bold Challenges Boost cohort with a project that aims to develop an autonomous laboratory (Self-Driving Laboratories for Chemistry and Materials Science). The multidisciplinary research team aims to develop an autonomous laboratory guided by digital twin technology to improve processes related to materials discovery.
